SEIP / Eaton Design Automation Loop

Working in Rice SEIP at The Ion on an AI-assisted engineering design loop that connects product specifications, CAD concepts, constraints, and design decisions.

Current Rice SEIP work at The Ion with engineering specs, CAD constraints, and design-loop experiments.

Non-confidential project framing for the design loop: interpret specs, retrieve context, generate options, evaluate constraints, and recommend next steps.

Problem

Build a design loop that keeps engineering specifications, geometry, constraints, and iteration decisions in the same workflow.

Current work

  • Building a design loop that turns product specifications into CAD concepts, constraint checks, and iteration prompts.
  • Working with requirements, geometry, manufacturability, and engineering judgment as part of the same process.

Engineering decisions

  • Use AI as a structured design-loop tool while keeping the mechanical reasoning visible.
  • Keep constraints explicit so each generated concept can be checked against the engineering requirements.
  • Use non-confidential visuals while the project is still active.

Current state

  • This is active SEIP work. I am building the workflow, defining the constraint structure, and keeping CAD iteration grounded in the original specification.
